Spot the 'Invisible' Men and Women in this Artist's Amazing Photographs

In the natural world, the chameleon blends in perfectly with its background.

In the urban jungle, Desiree Palmen decided to attempt the same visual deception.
And as these pictures show, the effect is amazing. Miss Palmen, a 44-year-old Dutch artist, uses a method that requires a huge amount of effort and attention to detail.
She makes cotton suits and paints the camouflage on by hand, painstakingly matching it to the chosen background. Either she or a model then poses in the suit in the chosen place.

The scenes are photographed and filmed and then put on display.

The Amazingly Beautiful Street Art of Julian Beever

Julian Beever is a British artist who has spent 10 years creating pavement art in Europe, USA and Australia. Many of his creations are optical illusions, such as the one you will see in the video where Julian appears to be perched on a ledge, waiting for Batman and Robin to climb the building and rescue him. In reality, there is just pavement in front of him, and the street below together with the expectant crowd, plus the blazing building below him, are all tricks played on the eye.

Vehicle Commercial With No Cars - Ford's Human Car

A TV commercial for the Ford Motor Company in Canada advertising 2 of Ford's vehicles (the Fusion and the Edge) features no cars. Instead, Ford uses people dressed in the Ford blue who, a la Cirque Du Soleil, form the recognizable silhouettes of the cars in dramatic and artistic fashion. This is just brilliant.

Heath Ledger Portrait Nominated For Australian Art Prize

A portrait of the late Heath Ledger is a contender for Australia's esteemed Archibald Prize, one of the most prominent art prizes in the country. It was painted by the actor's friend, Vincent Fantauzzo.

Simply titled "Heath," the portrait features three versions of the actor – one haunted-looking rendition in the center of the canvas flanked by two whispering figures on either side. According to Fantauzzo, originally one of the side figures was to be screaming, but the artist changed his concept, worrying that it would dominate the central figure, which he intended to be the focus. "The whispering, the voices, the frustration or something comical – they different ways that we might be thinking in our own mind," Fantauzzo told Australia's Daily Telegraph.

Painted at Ledger's family's Perth home in December, Fantauzzo says the two men collaborated on the concept together. Ledger sat for the portrait, even signing a form to vouch for its authenticity and qualify the piece for an Archibald Prize. "He signed it in the wrong spot," the artist remembered.

After their initial sessions, Ledger returned his work, and the painting sat in Fantauzzo's Melbourne home, hanging on the wall until the artist heard the sad news of the actor's death. "I just didn't believe it," he said. "When you paint someone, you meditate over them. I was painting Heath every day for 10 hours a day."

The Archibald Prize will be announced on March 7. So far, 249 portraits have been entered in the contest.

I have posted about Heath Ledger on this blog on 6 previous occasions. As you may or may not have guessed, I liked Heath Ledger as an actor. I have seen a few of his films (Brokeback Mountain, Casanova, Monsters Ball, Lords of Dogtown, The Order and The Brothers Grimm) and I really liked and admired his incredible acting range-The ability Heath had to go from the lewd and rambunctious Casanova to a subdued, low key Mid-western Cowboy who fell in love with another man. These are the links to older Heath Ledger postings on this blog just in case you might be interested.

"Belichick, You Cheated". Hilarious Video Parody Of Michael Jackson's "Beat It"!

This is a hilarious video parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichik as the unfortunate subject. The video is called "Belichik, you cheated". I got this video from the New York Post website which does not surprise me since the Post has been sending vitriol Belichik's way since that brouhaha between the Patriots coach and New York Jets coach Eric Mangini in which the latter ratted out the former's penchant for videotaping his opponents.

He framed McCain as the stodgy old man that looks "like the old guy at the barber shop," "a Wallmart greater," "the guy who is always early for the 'Early Bird Special'," and "the guy at the supermarket who is confused by the automatic doors."

Heath Ledger's Unfinished Film:The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Spoiler Warning!
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a traveling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr. Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on the condition that when his first-born reached its 16th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr. Nick. Valentina is now rapidly approaching this 'coming of age' milestone and Dr. Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr. Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr Parnassus promises his daughter's hand in marriage to the man that helps him win. In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles - and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all. The film is scheduled to be released sometime in 2009.

Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell To Assume Heath Ledger's Last Role

It is taking three top names: Jude Law,Johnny Depp,Colin Farrell– to step into Heath Ledger's final role, in the unfinished movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus", according to a rep for Law.

Speaking to the BBC, Law's spokeswoman confirmed that the three actors would play Ledger's role of Tony. She was unaware, however, as to how the part would be restructured in the film, which deals with magic.

Ledger, 28, was still shooting the $30-million movie, directed by Terry Gilliam and costarring Christopher Plummer, when he was found dead from an accidental overdose of prescription medicines on Jan. 22.

The BBC speculates that the production will retain its original footage of Ledger, with Law, Depp and Farrell each playing different versions of Tony.

The weekend before Ledger's death, he and Plummer had both completed the London portion of the movie's shoot and were due to continue filming the following week in Vancouver, Canada. Production was suspended when the tragedy struck.

At the time the production left England, Plummer told PEOPLE, "Heath was in very high spirits. He was just enjoying himself tremendously. It's a rather fanciful script, and he was wonderful in this role."

Celeb Search Engines: Beyonce, Matchbox Twenty, Ne.Yo, Mandy Moore

I posted hip-hop mega star Kanye West’s search engine a few days ago. Well, it turns out it is a fad. There are a handful of very well-known performers such as Beyonce, Willie Nelson, Meat Loaf, Kiss, Ne.Yo, Lil Wayne, Wynonna and even sport figures such as New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss and San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman who have their own search engines! I visited a few of these engines and..well, they are small; you only get a handful of pages for very popular keywords. But it is a start. I guess the most attractive feature of these celebrity search engines is that the users can win gifts such as iPhones, autographed albums and other stuff. The search engines are powered by new comer engine PRODEGE and enhanced by Google and Ask.

Will Ferrell and Supermodel Heidi Klum Pose for Hilarious Sports Illustrated Spread

Will Ferrell's latest character, Jackie Moon, may be the biggest fictional sell out to date. The lead in the upcoming comedy Semi Pro has been making the viral rounds, from Bud Light to Old Spice, and now the movie has infiltrated the most coveted magazine issue of the year -- Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. That's right. Jackie Moon poses with Project Runway's Heidi Klum in the most shameless movie plug of all time.

To add to the marketing madness, Ferrell's also released a music video (below) for a song his character sings called, "Love Me Sexy" and there's even a mockumentary about how "influential" the song is featuring Dallas Maverick's owner Mark Cuban. They're going a little bit overboard with all the hype in my opinion.

Torture Couture - John Galliano's Freaky Fashion

(TREND HUNTER) John Galliano has been known to be a bit outrageous or as some would say, edgy, but I’m not quite sure what to call his 2008 fall fashion line.

Green Porno: Isabella Rosselini Mounts A Housefly On Your Cellphone

BERLIN -- The Italian actress and model Isabella Rossellini, who has been starring in big-screen movies for 20 years, is making her directorial debut with a series of short films designed for cellphones and computers. Rossellini's one-minute shorts are dramatic reenactments of insects copulating called Green Porno, a name designed to draw search engine traffic.

"What do people mostly go online for, but to look at porn?" explains Canadian filmmaker Jody Shapiro, Rossellini’s co-director. "So we put 'Porno' in, and when people Google it, maybe we'll get lucky and Green Porno will come up. We might as well take advantage of the delivery system."

In each episode, Rossellini assumes the role of the male insect. "Seeing Isabella Rossellini mount a housefly from behind while smiling at the camera," Shapiro remarked, "I can't imagine many people would have ever thought they’d see that."

The Chapel Decorated With Human Bones

The town of Kutná Hora owes its origin to the silver mines which gained importance during the economic boom of the 13th century. At that time a lot of people traveled to this city to find their wealth. However a plague struck and killed so many of them that in the local cemetery no more bodies could be buried. Therefore a chapel was built to deposit the bones. Nowadays this ossuary in Sedlec contains approximately 40,000-70,000 human skeletons which have been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.

Heath Ledger's Final Portrait

Australia’s The Daily Telegraph reports that Melbourne artist Vincent Fantauzzo put the finishing touches on his painting of Heath Ledger at his Docklands studio the day before the star was found dead in his NY apartment.

Ledger sat for Fantauzzo on his last visit home to Perth, Australia in December. Fantauzzo painted Ledger with the intention of entering the portrait in the prestigious Archibald Prize later this year. But the newly finished work got an early showing, when, with the approval of the Ledger family, Fantauzzo released the image to the media. The painting depicts the notoriously private actor as three separate images. The central, and largest, image is of Ledger, bare-chested, looking straight ahead, appearing pained and exhausted. The two background images are of Ledger wearing humorous expressions, whispering into the ears of his foreground image.

Jon Stewart Rants About Super Tuesday's Television Coverage-What's With The Rotating 3D Pie Charts And All The Endless Graphics?

The high tech stuff is fine but in my opinion, CNN and the network channels covering the primaries are just overdoing it! Don't get me wrong. I understand that all that "expert" analysis and all the gadgetry and space-age stuff is intended to offer a more thorough dissection of the whole process. But in trying to explain what's going on to the viewers, the so-called experts and pundits sometimes crank out pure, unadulterated jibberish. Overdone hogwash. Numbers and estimates only understood by some secret society of political pundits. And all the techno stuff--flying 3-D pie charts, color-coded graphics, multi-screen set-ups --that looks like the holo deck of the Enterprise. Its the 21st century and I am aware of that most days. But I still think they are going overboard. To me, there is definitely beauty in simplicity. Simplicity dammit!

Should Google Worry? Kanye West Has A Search Engine.

Is Kanye West the new Google? Not quite, but thanks to his latest venture he's definitely one step closer to omnipotent global domination.

Say hello to Koogle (not the real moniker, but shouldn't it be? The official name is the-less-than titillating "Search With Kanye West"), the Murakami-loving Louis Vuitton Don's newly launched search engine, powered by Google and Ask. Here's the Kanyetastic part of the new site: using his search tool can earn you Swag Bucks, a sort of digital currency that can be redeemed for merch like autographed albums, turntables, gift cards and iPhones.

Ironically enough, this announcement comes just after he released several pages from his new advice book, Thank You and You're Welcome, one of which included the phrase "Be Leery of the Free Gift Bag." Should we be worried? Perhaps, but I'm too busy searching to care -- only 2498 more Swag Bucks 'till a free Coachella ticket!

Barackula: Obama The Vampire Slayer

During the most expensive presidential campaign in history, when some of the candidates are dropping more than $1 million a day on TV ads, you really have to wonder if that old saying about any publicity being good publicity still applies.

Take the upcoming movie "Barackula — The Musical," for instance. Sort of like the instant Web hit Will.I.Am video/song "Yes We Can," the political horror film by first-time director Mike Lawson (Bootleg Bandy from "American Pie Presents Band Camp," among other credits) uses Obama's own inspiring words as its source material.

Only "Barackula — The Musical" uses them to tell the fictional story of a young Barack Obama fighting off vampires at his alma mater, Harvard Law School. Currently in post-production and slated to debut online within the next few weeks, "Barackula" is described by Lawson as a "short political horror rock musical about young Barack Obama having to stave off a secret society of vampires at Harvard when he was inducted into presidency at the Harvard Law Review in 1990."

In the flick, the vampire-fighting Obama, played by newcomer Justin Sherman ("The Man Who Couldn't") struggles to persuade the Ivy League vampire society that "opposing political philosophies can coexist or else the society may transform Obama to the dark side." Oh, and along the way you get to see some dancing Harvard student vampires.

SalesGenie Apologizes For Super Bowl XLII Commercials Deemed Offensive

The sponsor of two commercials during Super Bowl XLII for Salesgenie.com, which drew complaints from viewers because of the characters’ ethnic accents, says he is sorry and promises to stop running one of them.

Vinod Gupta, the chairman and chief executive of InfoUSA in Omaha, the parent of Salesgenie.com, said in a telephone interview Tuesday that a commercial featuring two animated pandas speaking with what were intended as Chinese accents would be withdrawn.

We never thought anyone would be offended,” said Mr. Gupta, who developed and wrote both commercials himself.

"The pandas are Chinese,” he said. “They don’t speak German.”

Still, “if I offended anybody,” Mr. Gupta said, “believe me, I apologize.”

Mr. Gupta said he planned to keep running the other Salesgenie commercial, featuring an animated salesman named Ramesh who speaks with an Indian or other South Asian accent.

To congratulate her boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel for his show's 5th year anniversary, Sarah made a special 'confessional' music tribute starring none other than the Sexiest Man Alive Matt Damon -- you heard it from them: Sarah is 'f*cking' Matt! Huffington Post Helps Launch Wiki of D%@ks (Dicks)

By Sonia Zjawinski
February 04, 2008 10:01:42 PM
Wired Blog Network

Tom Brady lost the Super Bowl last night and according to a new Wiki site, he's a dicks Launched by 23/6, an IAC and Huffington Post collab, Dickipedia takes aim at some of today's most revered and infamous celebs.

Designed to look just like Wikipedia's layout, albeit with a slogan that reads, "a wiki of dicks," Dickipedia gives you the type of insight you won't find on the former site. Big names that get the dick treatment include Lance Armstrong, Kanye West, and even Santa Claus.

Each post begins with a generic introduction that introduces the person's name, what they're known for, and then their regrettable title of dick. "Tom Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. (born August 3, 1977) is a football player, future Hall of Famer, insufferable golden boy, and a dick."

They then continue to go through the person's past and present, with numerous opportunities to explain their dickness. The posts are often laugh out loud funny (can the person who coined lol be added to Dickipedia please?), as is the case with Sean Penn's bio.

Sean Penn’s personal life began to attract media attention with his marriage to Madonna in 1985. Madonna dedicated her album True Blue to Penn, referring to him in the liner notes as “the coolest guy in the universe.” Penn celebrated this by pleading guilty to domestic assault charges. The two divorced in 1986. The marriage produced no children and one film, Shanghai Surprise, of which neither partner wanted to claim custody.

Who do you want added to Dickipedia?
