Madonna kicked off her 'MDNA' concert tour in Israel in plenty of style. Madonna style.
For starters, there's the usual Madonna-branded controversy galore in Israel because of the AK47 and the other weapons displayed onstage. There is also the ubiquitous religious imagery and symbolism Madonna loves to inject into her shows that always end up pissing off the religious types. And there is also plenty of other shit on the shows that The Queen of Pop has been getting away with for 30 years and that always seem to rub many people the wrong way every-freaking-time like clockwork. Her antics get her press and keep her in the public discourse and whether people elevate her or tear her up, it does not matter. The effect is the same.
But let me be frank and state my bias: I like Madonna. I like her because I think she is very talented and I like her music and her elaborate concerts although I have never been to one of her shows. But most of all, I like her because at the age of 53, she carries on in spite of (or maybe because of, who knows) her many haters and detractors. The woman does not give a rat's ass; she does as she wants and continues to be immensely successful and popular with a humongous base of adoring fans. And I say, let the haters hate Madgesty. Let them eat cake. Who gives a rodent's derriere?!

Parodies of Magazine Covers-Jolie, Madonna, Miley, and Beckham
Gallery of the Absurd likes to parody magazine covers and images of celebrities. The artist name is Fourteen like the number and she says about her work:
"I am not painting their portraits...I paint only the gossip, buzz, chatter and brand image the particular celebrity projects or attracts. I seek to capture a peculiar segment of modern pop-culture mythology as it unfolds before our eyes. For this reason, I would hope the celebrity would not be angered..."
In the galley you will see Angelina Jolie's much talked about recent W Magazine cover where she's seen breasfeeding her babies. There is also the Miley Cyrus infamous Vanity Fair spread that caused so much controversy a few months ago. Madonna is there with her son David Banda. And there's also a spoof of Madonna's heavily photoshopped Out Magazine cover.

Madonna's "Get Stupid" Video from the "Sticky and Sweet" Tour

Lunatica Desnuda featured parts of this video a couple of weeks ago when we posted about Madge's Sticky and Sweet tour kick off in Scotland. This is the full video featuring the Material Girl pontificating and chastising mofos about planet earth's shitty predicament. I think I may have recycled something today so I feel pure.
Amazingly thou, even when she pontificates and preaches to the rest of you (I don't include myself 'cause I may have recycled some crap today. Remember?) planet earth molesters, Madonna has to look bitchy, nasty, raunchy and kinkier than Ditta von Teese on crack.

Scott Blake's Fascinating Barcode Portraits of Famous People Such as Oprah, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Madonna and Others
Scott Blake makes beautiful art using a strange medium:barcodes. Below, in no particular order, are the portraits of some famous and infamous people such as Oprah, Bruce Lee, O.J Simpson, Marilyn Manson, Marilyn Monroe, Charles Manson, Madonna, Andy Warhol, Mao Tse Tung, Elvis, Ozzie Osbourne and Governor Arnold. Lean back in your chair or take a step back for a better viewing experience.
There are also 3 fascinating videos showing how the barcode portraits work.
"Scott Blake takes barcodes and turns them into art - art that is simultaneously pop and op, intellectual and personal, minimal and ocular. Blake uses the black and white icon of our data-drenched existence to stimulate thought on topics from consumerism to religion and individual identity. He urges the viewer to consider the limitations of digitized human expression and to appropriate these symbols of commodity"(Scott Blake's website).

Madonna Kicks off her Sticky and Sweet Tour with a Bang

Madonna kicked off her "Sticky and Sweet" tour at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on August 23rd to critical acclaim. The Material 50 Year Old danced, skipped double dutch rope and is said to generally have kicked up a storm at the concert.
I am a Madonna fan but I know that the pop queen has perhaps as many detractors as she does admirers; there is something about the woman that rubs some people the wrong way. That's just as well. As far as I'm concerned, I get a kick out of the way Madonna manages to manipulate the general public with her antics on and off stage. Whether she's wearing pointy bras outside her clothes or getting crucified or making out with her female dancers or Britney Spears, the pop icon thrives on creating controversy. That's what she does best. Create controversy to remain in the public discourse. And people eat that stuff up and fall for it over and over and over again. LOL. In the YouTube videos below, Madonna performs "Vogue" and "Get Stupid"
"Get Stupid" is a quasi-political song of sorts which ends with an image of presidential candidate Barack Obama. The video shows lots of images of Madonna singing, of people, dead animals, Adolf Hitler and a whole lot of other shit. Furthermore, the video's quality is not that great but there are some really cool images.
