'Love Life, Stop AIDS' Campaign: Is This Initiative Way Too Graphic and Explicit To Be Effective?

These NSFW but imaginative images and vids are from an anti-AIDS PSA initiative produced by the Swiss Office of Public Health.

This PSA's stuff would never even be considered for public viewing in the USA on account of being way too graphic and explicit. So I'm curious as to what others think. Is this campaign called 'Love Life, Stop AIDS' too racy to drive the intended message home without getting the already horny and careless even hornier? Or are you of the opinion that in the fight against AIDS ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that effectively gets the message across to people to protect themselves is okay to use? Pray tell.

Californication Dreaming: John Phillips of the Band 'The Mamas & Papas' Slept with His Daughter Mackenzie Phillips? Let's Listen to the Evidence

Actress Mackenzie Phillips has revealed in a memoir released on Wednesday September 23rd that she had a long-term sexual affair with her father John Phillips, the late singer with 1960s band The Mamas & Papas.

Reuters notes:

In the memoir "High Arrival", which was published a year after she was arrested for cocaine possession, Phillips writes that she had sex with her father at age 19, the night before her 1979 marriage to Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones' entourage.

The former star of TV sitcom "One Day at a Time" said she and her father used drugs that night. John Phillips died in 2001.

"My father was not a man with boundaries," Phillips writes. "He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night to find myself having sex with my own father.

I don't usually post on this sort of stuff but 'California Dreaming' by The Mamas & Papas is one of my favorite 1960's songs ever. If you're not familiar with the song, listen to it below; It is a gorgeous melody even if John Phillips f*cked (allegedly) his own daughter.

Jeff Koons' Sexually Explicit Kama Sutra Glass Sculptures and Stainless Steel Balloons

Koons' Wiki:
Jeff Koons (born January 21, 1955) is an American artist known for his giant reproductions of banal objects such as balloon animals produced in stainless steel with mirror finish surfaces, often brightly colored. Koons' work has sold for substantial sums including at least one world record auction price for a work by a living artist. Critics are sharply divided in their views of Koons. Some view his work as pioneering and of major art-historical importance. Others dismiss his work as kitsch: crass and based on cynical self-merchandising. Koons himself has stated that there are no hidden meanings in his works.

The Genius of Johannes Vermeer

Johannes Vermeer was a Dutch Baroque painter who specialized in exquisite, domestic interior scenes of middle class life (Wiki). Vermeer is one of my favoritest Renaissance Masters. His paintings are very sedate in their quiet domesticity yet very lyrical and evocative.

One of my biggest loves is...Johannes Vermeer.

NSFW Lady Gaga N@ked and Bound for Vogue Japan. Unfortunately, She Did Manage to Escape

Lady Gaga took the October 2009 issue of Vogue Japan and I seem to care. The reason for it is that I just love these outstanding snaps by Nobuyoshi Araki.

I broke my own Gaga Rule(nothing Lady Gaga in this blog) for the sake of art but I may never, ever forgive myself.

George Grie's Goth Neosurrealist, Underwear-Wearing Femme Fatale Goddesses

I like this artwork by George Grie. For some reason I was taken aback by the woman wearing panties and bras hence the post's title; Panties and bras just don't go with Goth and Valkyries and all that stuff. Furthermore, it makes sense to me to believe that even the female mythological creatures went commando in those days.

The three graces, Goth mode style

Modern art culture and subculture influence heavily our perception of female beauty. If you check the art history, you would notice how dramatic this change could be. In Roman mythology they were known as the Gratiae, in Greek as The Three Graces, goddesses of charm, beauty, and creativity. The Charites were usually considered the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome, also associated with the underworld and the Eleusinian mysteries. During the earlier art period, sculptors and painters alike represented them decorated, but later artists have changed the way of portraying Graces and depict them naked.

The characterization of a beautiful person is often based on some combination that includes psychological factors such as personality, grace, charm, integrity, and elegance, and outer beauty, which includes physical factors, such as youthfulness, sexiness, symmetry, and complexion. Beauty presents a standard of comparison, and it can cause resentment when not achieved. Studies have even shown that handsome criminals receive lighter sentences than less attractive convicts. Evolutionarily it makes logical sense that sexual creatures ought to be attracted to mates who possess ordinary or average features.

Contemporary mass media bombards us with new types of alien beauties. Predators, terminators, vampires, and other underworld creatures become sources of present beautification. Universal to all is a tendency towards depression, sacred, supernatural, mystical in sounds and views. Fantasy art, Goth fashion, music attribution styles (such as Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson), popular dark movie characters (such as Alien, Predator, Resident Evil, Underworld, etc.) change our view to what might be considered as sexy, grace, and attractive.

'Cruelty Doesn't Fly': PETA's Latest Banned Racy Ad Starring Pam Anderson and Some N@ked Folks

This is Peta's (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) latest controversial PSA. This one stars Pam Anderson as an airport fashion police person who body searches people to make sure they are not wearing animal skin.

PETA does this shit a lot as the whole world who gives a rat's ass about these things knows; Thing is they know sex and controversy get lots of attention. This particular ad, for instance, has already been banned by CNN Airport Network which refused to show it at three NYC airports.

PETA explains their latest banned PSA:
Pamela Anderson may have become famous by filling out a one-piece red swimsuit on Baywatch, but now she's starring in a new project, PETA's "Cruelty Doesn't Fly" video. In the new video, Pam stars as a no-nonsense fashion cop who strips travelers of their fashion faux pas—animal skins!

Hilarious Print Campaign for Alcoholic Beverage Turns Cows, Sows and Ewes into Tacky H0s...Or Am I Being Redundant?

I'm getting a kick outta of this hilarious Romanian print campaign for a product called "Martini Bitter". Apparently, if you accompany your meat with this alcoholic beverage, the cow, ewe, (female sheep) or your sow(female pig)will turn into...um... tacky hos? Hum. Everybody knows that...LOL.

Apropos my neighbor, is there a double or triple entendre here involving the word "meat" and the hos etc. Or is it just my shamefully filthy mind?

AIDS Is a Mass Murderer: Shocking NSFW Safe Sex Campaign Compares the Disease to Hitler, Stalin and Saddam

In prep for World AIDS Day 2009, Fund Regenbogen has launched a NSFW but clever multimedia anti-AIDS campaign called "AIDS - a serial killer". The ads compare the AIDS scourge which has taken the lives of millions of people with some of the most vile murderers of our time such as Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and Saddam Hussein. The tag line on the impressionable print ads reads, "Aids is a mass murderer". It sure as hell is.
